The French build many of their dishes on Sauces. That's why they are so great! Try this simple fix and see!

I have always admired the French cooking technique of including a sauce in almost everything that they cook. It is a method that improves almost everything. There are some very sophisticated techniques and standing formulations for these sauces (the Five Mother Sauces and their progeny, for those of you that are already there). However, if this is a Wednesday night (like... Read More

I read this article this morning and just had to share it. This such a good and simple guide that everyone should get a peek. I hope the authors will for give me if I give the proper credit, but it really is a terrific tool.

Go local! Produce, wine and fun are all around you!

Wow, did I ever get a great reminder of how great local things can be over the weekend. I had the distinct pleasure of going ot the Bernhardt Winery in Plantersville, Texas (That's a little west of Conroe and Northwest of Houston at about an hour and fifteen minute drive). Truth be known, I enjoy wine and cheese inside on miserable days, as well.

My tastes have turned to the... Read More

Shrimp is Available Year-Round. How About Shrimp for the Holidays?

I love shrimp. It is my great good fortune to spend a good bit of my time in and around the Gulf Coast, where they have a variety of really deliscious shrimp. I am as bad as that characther in Forrest Gump. You know. Bubba! "Well, there's fried shrimp, boiled shrimp, shrimp stew, shrimp gumbo, grilled shrimp,,," and so on and so on. I thought I might post... Read More
