Winter leaves time for baking! It doesn't have to be hard! Here's a great cake to try.

About this time of year, when many of us are house bound and trapped indoors for long periods of time, we foodies turn to baking to fill the hours with enjoyable activity and great food. I was treated to this very simple recipe at a gather of financial advisors. They had a dessert bake-off and this thing won hands down. When I asked for the recipe, I was shocked at how... Read More

Sausage Bread! You will love this! Use your cookie sheets!

It was serious party time at the old casa this weekend. We had our traditional Millionaire Seafood Gumbo and Sausage Bread with lots of appetizers and deserts. I thought I'd share the sausage bread idea today. It seems that I can never make enough. If there is any left over, I always have requests for sausage bread care packages. It couldn't be easier.

Frozen Puff Pastry is just the bomb! Make a fast and delicious coffee cake to enjoy while you prepare for shopping!

Tuesday during the Holiday season brings the ads in droves. I just went to my mail box and I thought I was going to have to have a sled dog to bring the load back to the house. Sheesh! The email box was no better. I can’t blame these folks for trying their best. It’s a very important time of the year for retailers of all kinds. Did you know that some stores make more than half... Adding a Comment to Yesterdays Post. Spring Form Pans! More Than Cheesecake!

One of the things that I forgot to mention yesterday, when we were talking about low carb crusts for holiday pies and cheesecakes, is the absolutely invaluable spring form pan. You really should have these things in a number of sizes. If you have to choose only one, I would recommend a 9” with as deep a ring as you can find. I prefer non-stick in this application. You will not... Read More

If your gathering isn't on 'The Day", why not try a Pork Loin?

Monday of Thanksgiving Week! This is a good holiday for us foodies. After all, that’s a large component of what we do at this time of year. However, on of the things that can happen is a terrible repetition of the same meal over and over again, if you have several places to go. Although most families set a very diverse and delicious table, generally it consists of the same... Read More

Relax. It's going to get busy enough. Cheese and wine this evening.

Really great weather in Houston today! Nice and crisp in the morning and warm and inviting in the afternoon. One of the things that I really like to do on such a great day is to enjoy a great glass of wine and some cheese out on the patio while I watch the dos frisk around. Truth be known, I enjoy wine and cheese inside on miserable days, as well.

My tastes have turned to the... Read More

Grilling Sausages and Great Fall Festivals!

What an absolutely great time of year! Fall is moving in with all of its great festivals and wonderful weather. Here in Texas, our large German and Czech communities are celebrating the harvest and the final warm days before winter, The Oktoberfest was just a ball this year. We were able to attend celebrations in Houston and to attend the Wurstfest in New Braunfels (not... Read More
