Use Cooking Recipes Far More Often in the Winter |

My favorite cooking recipes for meals include food that contains a lot of fruit and vegetables. In fact, I love the produce aisle at the grocery store because those foods taste so good. In the summer we eat a lot of the vegetables raw in salads to stay cool, because who wants to eat vegetable soup on a 105 degree day? No one. That's why I use more cooking recipes in the cooler months than in the summer. Our solar oven helps us to eat healthier food in the summer by using it to bake healthy roast chicken or turkey, but those are the exception. Once we get the poultry cooked, we cool it for use in salads. I ran across some cooking recipes for salads that include quite a rainbow of colors and that's what we're hearing we should be eating every day. And we are lucky because there are farmers' markets not far from our home where we get locally grown produce that is so delicious. In these remaining weeks of winter, I'll still be using cooking recipes for soups and stews, but once that thermometer starts to climb, it's going to be romaine for us almost every day.
