I have more cookbooks than I use |

I love to bake and I like to cook as well, and the one thing I like to do even more is to collect cookbooks. I know I don't need half of the cookbooks I actually have, but I can't help myself. I find cookbooks on sale and they have a recipe or two inside, and they're mine! I once bought a cookbook because it had a recipe that I couldn't resist. I looked at the list of recipes, saw that one particular recipe and said, "sold"! I never even knew what other recipes were in that cookbook until I had the book in my hands, at home. My friends laugh at me when I tell them about that cookbook but once I tell them how good that recipe is, and some of the others, they beg me for some of the other recipes that are in the cookbook. I’m so bad about buying cookbooks that I tend to catch myself looking at them online and stopping myself after about the forth one, from looking further. Because it’s just a matter of time before I break down and buy another one that I don’t need.
In addition to more current cookbooks, I even have some antique ones, some dating back to the 50s, or was it the 40s? I love those cookbooks and often look through them, seeing if anything sounds good and wondering if some of those ingredients are still around. I have one cookbook from the 40s, I think (it's not in the same room as I am right now) and there is a recipe for ice cream. I forgot what the ingredients were exactly but the one ingredient that sticks out in my mind is something that I have never seen, and I grew up in the 70s and 80s! It's things like that, that make me wonder how I could adapt those recipes to with today's offerings. Of course I have yet to make anything from those cookbooks, but I also need to find an occasion first. Maybe when I get my own place and I have a house warming party I'll pull those old cookbooks out and play around with some of the recipes. I think my guests will have fun with them.
Of course whenever my mom notices a new cookbook in the house, she starts up with me about having too many as it is, and how I never use them; why bring more into the house?
