It's that time of year for holiday celebrations with neighbors, friends and family. I went to my first holiday party of the season last weekend at my girlfriends house. The hostess made her own egg nog from scratch. Now, every year I look forward to my girlfriends delicious home made eggnog. We serve it plain or with a little rum and nutmeg sprinkled on the top. Good stuff!
I have watched my girlfriend make her egg nog many times. She has been more than willing to give up one of her best cooking recipes for this holiday elixir! I believe cooking recipes that are this good are meant to be shared. So here goes:
COOKING RECIPES: INGREDIENTS FOR HOME MADE EGG NOG
Two egg yolks Two egg whites 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt Four cups milk Three tablespoons sugar One teaspoon vanilla Flavoring - RUM Nutmeg
Beat egg yolks. Add sugar, salt and milk. Cook on stove until steam comes off the top. Stir constantly with metal spoon. Cool in freezer one hour, until not warm to touch.
Beat egg whites. Gradually add three tablespoons sugar. Add to above custard and mix. Add one teaspoon vanilla and flavoring (optional). Chill 3-4 hours. ENJOY!
